DAAT & Safeguarding Children Policy and Operation Review

The DAAT has been reviewing current guidance and operational procedures regarding Safeguarding Children. The annual DAAT conference on the 28th of May will see the launch of new protocols for effective joint working between Children & Young People’s Services and the DAAT including all commissioned services and projects. The new protocols have been developed jointly with SCB and will include a booster training programme for all frontline staff in drug services and CYP in June which will be mandatory for all staff in Hackney as part of the launch.

In addition, the DAAT has developed a Policy Statement which will ensure that all commissioned services and projects and all DAAT staff are clear about the DAAT’s requirements in relation to Safeguarding Children. This will form part of all future contracts.

Finally, as well as the June Training Programme, ongoing training will ensure that managers and frontline staff are updated on the issues and on handling concerns relating to safeguarding children. A clear set of posters will be developed and updated for all our offices to ensure staff are fully compliant and aware of the new policy.
